Job Description

Our client based in Leicester, is one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of flat and pitched roof-lights, selling direct to both trade and consumers. Each roof light we supply is hand built, therefore the role of our Factory Operative is instrumental in the success of the business. Roof Maker Factory Operatives use a range of different hand tools, machinery and other equipment as part of the production, assembly and manufacturing processes. This includes safely wrapping and preparing each roof light ready for shipping.


These include but are not limited to:

· Handling and carrying glass as part of the build and manufacturing process

· Use of a range of hand tools including hammers, screwdrivers and drills

· Operating mechanical production equipment in a safe manner

· Preparing kit components ready for roof light assembly

· Use of Up Saw and Evolution Saw to cut aluminium profiles

· Using router to cut slots into aluminium profile bars

· Building boxes ready for component supply – Wrapping with cellophane to safely ship


· Work as part of a two or more-person assembly team

· Good hand-eye coordination

· Capable of carrying heavy materials, including glass and aluminium

· Excellent attention to detail

· Good standard of hearing and eyesight

· Moderate reading, numeracy and writing ability

· Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines

· Problem solving and prioritising skills

· Knowledge of factory machinery and assembly processes

· Ability to work on own initiative to required manufacturing standards

· Ability to follow instructions
