Glassline Operative

Roof Maker is one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of flat and pitched rooflights, selling direct to both trade and consumers. Each rooflight we supply is hand built, therefore the role of each Factory Operative is instrumental in the success of the business. Roof Maker Factory Operatives on the Glassline prepare laminated and toughened glass ready to produce glass units by hand and with the aid of various machines. The job will also include some work in other areas of the factory when needed, to widen their own skills, and to provide cover for holidays.

These include but are not limited to:

• Glass handling and carrying
• Assembling glass to produce double and triple glazed units
• Cleaning the glazed units
• Glass quality inspection
• Operating mechanical production equipment in a safe manner
• Use of wash
• Application of spacer bars
• Application of hot sealant
• Ensure all products are manufactured to the highest standard and meet customer specifications.
• General housekeeping duties, making sure own area is kept clean and tidy

• Work as part of a team
• Capable of carrying heavy materials, including glass and aluminum
• Excellent attention to detail
• Experience of working in a fast-paced Production environment.
• Moderate reading, numeracy and writing ability
• Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
• Problem solving and prioritising skills
• Knowledge of factory machinery and assembly processes
• Ability to follow instructions
